Lone Star self-retaining anal retractor
A flexible plastic ring (~14 cm diameter) with disposable elastic hooks that clip onto the ring and the perianal skin to provide 360° circumferential exposure without an assistant holding retractor blades.
How it is used
Anal and perianal exposure in hemorrhoidectomy, fistulotomy, transanal excision, and coloanal anastomosis exposure in low anterior resection.
Clinical tip
Gives stable retraction without needing an assistant, but the hooks can prick the surgeon or assistant on insertion or removal.
