Lister bandage scissors

A sturdy scissors with an angled blade and an elongated, blunt-tipped lower blade that slides underneath a bandage or dressing without touching the skin.

How it is used

Removing bandages, wraps and dressings on the ward, in the emergency department and in outpatient clinics: the blunt tip slides flat under the bandage, and the blade's angle keeps the handle clear of the area, allowing a long cut with no risk of cutting the patient.

Clinical tip

Not to be confused with the already-catalogued Littauer scissors or the oscillating cast saw: the Lister cuts soft bandages and dressings, not suture thread or rigid plaster/fiberglass casts.
