Mayo scissors

Sturdy blunt-tipped scissors, straight or curved, with thick blades. Also available in a long version.

How it is used

Cutting resistant tissue: fascia, thick sutures, suture material. The long curved version is used mainly in laparotomy or deep open surgery.

Clinical tip

The curved blade is used for deep tissue; the straight one for superficial tissue and cutting sutures.
