Volkmann rake retractor

Handheld retractor with several sharp or blunt prongs (2 to 6) mounted on a ring handle.

How it is used

Retraction of skin, subcutaneous tissue and muscle in superficial incisions across general, orthopedic and plastic surgery.

Clinical tip

The sharp-pronged version grips better but risks puncturing gloves; the blunt version is preferred near superficial nerves or vessels.
