Surgical headlight and loupes
A binocular magnification optical system (typically 2.5x-3.5x) mounted on glasses or a headband, optionally combined with a directed LED or fiber-optic light source that illuminates the operative field coaxially with the surgeon's line of sight.
How it is used
Personal magnification and illumination for the surgeon during fine dissection or microanastomoses, independent of the already-catalogued overhead scialytic OR light.
Clinical tip
A technical tender for fiber-optic headlights specifies an autoclavable cable rated to 134°C and a 150W cold halogen source, as a real specification reference.
