Iodine-impregnated adhesive incise drape
A thin, transparent, adhesive plastic film impregnated with an iodophor (povidone-iodine) antimicrobial adhesive, supplied on a release liner that is removed before application.
How it is used
Applied directly onto prepped, dry skin around the planned incision; the surgeon incises directly through the film and skin together, with the adhesive helping reduce wound-edge contamination from resident skin flora.
Clinical tip
Skin must be completely dry before application, since moisture prevents proper adhesion and can cause the drape to lift intraoperatively; contraindicated in patients with iodine/iodophor allergy.
