Jeweler's forceps for hair graft implantation

A non-locking precision forceps with very fine, smooth, polished tips (derived from the jeweler's-forceps design), designed to grasp an individual follicular graft by its surrounding dermal/fatty tissue without compressing the bulb or hair shaft.

How it is used

Used in hair transplantation for the manual "stick and place" insertion technique, picking up each graft from the holding dish and placing it into the recipient slit previously opened with the sapphire blade, as an alternative to the Choi implanter pen.

Clinical tip

The graft must always be grasped at the dermal/fatty end, never at the bulb or hair shaft, since excessive pressure can crush or transect it and compromise viability; distinct from the already-catalogued jeweler-type vessel dilator, which is inserted into the vessel lumen to evert it rather than to grasp tissue.
