Citelli mastoid rongeur
A compact punch-type rongeur with a fine, upward-angled jaw, in small bite sizes (typically 1-4 mm).
How it is used
Used in mastoidectomy to bite away cortical and cellular mastoid bone, particularly around the facial recess and posterior canal wall, where the angled jaw eases access without compromising nearby structures.
Clinical tip
Carries its own regulatory product code ("Rongeur, Mastoid"), distinct from the other already-catalogued rongeurs (Kerrison, Leksell, Friedman), purpose-built for the confined mastoid cavity.
