Specimen retrieval bag
A single-use sterile pouch, typically made of polyurethane, that is deployed inside the abdominal cavity from a cylindrical introducer and cinched closed with a drawstring before removal.
How it is used
Used to isolate and contain a specimen (gallbladder, appendix, ovary, etc.) inside the abdominal cavity before extracting it through a port, preventing spillage and wound contamination; distinct from the morcellation containment bag, which is specifically designed to safely fragment the specimen inside it.
