Ventriculoperitoneal (VP) shunt valve
An implantable system made of a multi-perforated ventricular catheter, a one-way valve (fixed, adjustable or gravitational) that regulates flow according to pressure, and a distal peritoneal catheter.
How it is used
Permanently treats hydrocephalus by diverting excess cerebrospinal fluid from the cerebral ventricles into the peritoneal cavity, where it is reabsorbed.
