Intraoperative micro-Doppler probe
Small (e.g. 1mm diameter, 20MHz) handheld ultrasound probe that insonates vessels directly in the surgical field.
How it is used
Confirms parent/branch vessel patency and aneurysm sac occlusion immediately after clip placement; complements the already-catalogued aneurysm clip and clip applicator.
Clinical tip
One series found Doppler detected clip-induced stenosis of an adjacent vessel, missed by visual inspection alone, in 18.9% of cases.
