Endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH) system
Reusable handpiece plus a single-use dissecting/cautery tip, advanced subcutaneously via CO2 insufflation to dissect, seal, and divide the saphenous vein and its branches through one or two small incisions.
How it is used
Harvesting the saphenous vein as a conduit for CABG, with less wound pain and a shorter hospital stay than open harvest.
Clinical tip
A secondary analysis of the PREVENT-4 trial identified endoscopic harvesting as an independent predictor of reduced 1-year graft patency versus open harvest, a finding still debated in the literature.
