Cast spreader (Wolff-type)

A plier-like, two-bladed instrument with blunt tips that are inserted into the cut made by the cast saw and spread apart when the handle is squeezed, separating the two edges of the cast.

How it is used

Used right after cutting the cast with the oscillating saw, to widen the incision and lift off the cast halves without having to extend the cut or risk further skin injury from the saw.
