Gracey curette (set)
Set of single-cutting-edge periodontal curettes, blade offset about 70° from the shank and numbered in pairs (e.g. 1/2, 7/8, 11/12, 13/14), each shaped to adapt to one specific tooth surface.
How it is used
Subgingival scaling and root planing in non-surgical periodontal therapy, and root surface debridement during periodontal flap surgery.
Clinical tip
Unlike a universal curette, each Gracey cuts with only one of its two blade edges; that edge must be identified before the instrument is inserted beneath the gingiva.
