Cardiotomy suction
A suction cannula connected, via a roller pump, to the cardiotomy reservoir of the cardiopulmonary bypass circuit, rather than discharging into a waste canister.
How it is used
It recovers blood shed into the surgical field during cardiopulmonary bypass surgery so it can be filtered and returned to the patient instead of being discarded.
